IOSHA finds ND in violation of six counts

The Indiana Occupational Health and Safety Administration (IOSHA) found Notre Dame guilty of six violations after a four-and-a-half month investigation into the October death of junior Declan Sullivan, the Indiana Department of Labor announced March 15, 2011.

May 2012

University sues federal government

Notre Dame filed a religious liberty lawsuit on May 21, 2012, challenging the constitutionality of the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) mandate that requires employers to provide contraceptive services in their minimum health insurance packages. The mandate is part of the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act, President Barack Obama's healthcare reform legislation, passed in 2010.

December 2012

'A big step for Notre Dame'

On Dec. 5, 2012, the University announced a new plan to form an officially recognized student organization for GLBTQ students. The plan will also establish a new advisory board to replace the Core Council and hire a full-time staff member to act as a liaison between students and administration on matters of inclusion.
